Oh the HUMANITY!!

This is how Chase feels about getting his hair cut.

Seeing as its a pretty stressful event we try wait a while between cuts and cut it pretty short when we do.

Last week he approached me looking like this.  Apparently he had gum in his hand when he decided to scratch his head.

We had just cut his hair a week before so it was already pretty short.  I told him to get the gum out we'd have to cut it again.

When I finished he said, "When I look in the mirror and see how short my hair is I'm going to be SOOO Mad at YOU!"

"Excuse me?  Am I the one who put gum in your hair? You don't get to be mad at me this time."

He gave a little whimper and ran off to the bathroom.  There was one good shriek of terror when he saw his new cut but was smart enough not to direct his frustration toward me.  Frankly I think he's adorable.

Business In The Front Party In The Back

I am disappointed to report that Davey-Baby's curls never returned. Which means it's that time of year again.

I say that time of year because that is about how often I succumb to peer pressure and cut Davis's hair.

This was the situation . . .

It was very full and mushroom like.

When you have such fantastic hair it is important to stop in the middle of the hair cut to take a "business in the front and party in the back" picture.

The fact he has the attitude to match the mullet means it doesn't stay long.

Ta-Da!!

I Know Hair

I still have my crimping iron from the 1980s. Are you impressed? My mom found it in bag of stuff under her bathroom sink and gave it to me to shove under my bathroom sink.

I am excited to tell you that it came in handy this weekend. Friday night Madison put one little tiny braid in the front of her hair and slept on it. She took it out Saturday morning and was thrilled with her cool frizzy lock of hair. She promptly asked me to put little tiny braids all over her head so she could sleep on them and go to school with a full head of frizzy hair. I said, "Who do you think I am? Your camp buddy?" Then I pulled out the trusty crimping iron and spent the next 20 minutes crimping her hair.

Hello gorgeous!

She was very pleased with how her frizzy hair turned out and decided she would wear something funky to go with her cool new funky hair . . . . so . . . she uh . . . chose a sweater vest. But . . . its a funky sweater vest. That is one crazy apple . . . .

She said she was getting all sorts of complements at school today. The best was when her cousin, my darling niece, said, "Her mom is REALLY good with hair. I know because she's my aunt."

Damn straight.

Well That's That.

I don't want to talk about it.

That's right I don't want to talk about how I decided to ever so slightly trim the baby's bangs before church.

Michael doesn't want to talk about all the comments he got when he took the baby and his new bangs to Sunday School.

I don't want to
talk about the fact that after church I decided to try to fix it, and well . . . I don't want to talk about it.

I don't want to talk about the fact that he looks more like a girl now than he did before.

But mostly, I don't want to talk about the fact that every time I look at him I cry a little because I miss his curls.

This is Davis

This is Davis. Sometimes we call him Davey-Baby. More accurately sometimes I call him Davey-Baby.

Little Davis has awesome hair. I love the color and I love the curls in the back. In the past I have waited a long time before cutting my boys hair. I know I've said it before but Kai was able to say, "I am NOT a GIRL!" before I agreed to his first hair cut.

You see little Davis has more hair then Kai had at this age, so I am beginning to wonder if it is time. I'm not fully convinced though so I am going to put up a poll on my side bar.

I am not prepared to agree to the outcome of the poll, I'm just curious. If you really want to sway me one direction or the other, you should leave a persuasive comment on this post.

Oh The Hair!!!

I've never known what to do with Chase's hair.  When it gets long I usually just buzz it in frustration.  I think the last time I buzzed him was a year ago.

His hair was getting long again.  Way too long.  However, I didn't really feel comfortable shaving him bald right at the start of winter.  I figured I could get him a couple really nice hats but seeing as he is three there would be no guarantee that he would wear them.

So I did the next best thing-- I sent him to the barber with his dad.  Apparently barbers know what to do with hair.  Who'd of thought . . . .

Yes.  Well.  As I was writing this post Chase decided to put gum in his hair and the gum retrieval operation wasn't exactly a success.  So much for that great hair cut.

I Donate Out of Love

When I got my hair cut yesterday my stylist kept saying things like, "I love the color of your hair, is it natural?" and "I can't believe how soft your hair is!" she even threw in a "You have four kids?! I swear you don't look at day over 20!" However, that last comment may have had something to do with the fact that I had my skull shirt on. Every other stylist that walked by said something to the effect of, "Oh wow! Now that is a great hair cut!"

Did it bother me that they were saying very similar things to the girl across from me? Absolutely not. They had no other choice. I'm sure they didn't want her to feel bad because my hair is so much better than hers.

I asked to have 12 inches taken off. My stylist put it into four braids before cutting it so it could be donated to Locks Of Love. Did she ask me? No. She just said, "Oh look, you have enough to donate!" So when one of the salon owners saw the four cut off braids and exclaimed, "oh are you donating to Locks of Love?!" I said, "No. I plan on taking those home." "Uh, really?" she said, "Like for your scrap book or something?" If you're wondering, I didn't really take them home because, honestly, how could I deny a cancer stricken little girl such fantastic hair?
